The final opening day at Yankee stadium was Monday, March 31st, 2008. It was a rainy day and was postponed until Tuesday, April 1st. The Yankees beat the Blue Jays 3-2 to start the last of 85 years at Yankee stadium. A close friend of mine and 15-year season ticket holder was excited to hold the tickets to the game saying; "I'm going to hang on to these forever." The Yankee's are an institution in New York and the move across the street to the new stadium will be unsettling for many and exciting for others.

Strangely, the biggest news to follow opening day were about crimes occuring in and around the stadium. Two men were issued summonses for trying to steal some of the decorative "bunting" from the stands. A more serious crime occurred after local man shot his girlfriend, stole a truck and then shot and killed himself after being pursued by police and getting stuck in the traffic leaving the stadium. The girlfriend did survive.

On a brighter note for all you baseball fans I have found some information about internships this summer. They are for various departments in either the Yankee's or Mets' new stadiums.
